Congratulations to the Winners of the National Gold Phoenix Innovation Design Grand Competition 2019

News from News Center (Text by Sun Yixin and Photos by Lu Jin and Lin Tong from School of Art) From March 21st - 24th, 2019, the 54th National Crafts Trade Fair, hosted by the China Arts and Crafts Association, was held in Chongqing in conjunction with other relevant events, including Gold Phoenix Innovation Design Grand Competition 2019. This fair has seen elites from domestic and foreign arts and crafts industries gathering and displaying their new crafts, materials, products, and designs. Four pieces of selected works by Lu Jin and Lin Tong, two Senior Craft Artists from the School of Art, were exhibited and awarded at the fair. Creative Tote Bag, a Cloud Embroider of Art Weaving by Ma Yun and Sun Yixin won a bronze medal, Mice, a Nut-Carving by Chen Yu and Zhu Yan won a bronze medal, Moonlight Singing and Dancing, an Embroidery Attire by Lu Jin and Lin Tong won an honorable mention, and Kid Backpack, a Tong People’s Broidery by Hu Yihua and Yong Jia won an honorable mention.

As a higher vocational education institution, the School of Art integrates research, inheritance and teaching on the processes of wax-dyeing and tie-dyeing by ethnic minorities in Guangxi. With the support from the Master Studio of Intangible Cultural Heritage, faculties have achieved great success by designing and creating handcraft works during after-class time. The achievements of the selected works in the exhibition are inseparable from the efforts that the School of Art has continuously focused on the research of intangible cultural heritage of ethnic minorities as well as the collection and sort of the skills and processes. On the basis of keeping the essences of intangible cultural heritages, and focusing on the areas including themes, designs, processes and skills, and derivative products, the School of Art has achieved well-known success by continuing research and development in innovation and building the trend of New Tie-dyeing, New Wax-dyeing, and New Broidery.
